Why this one bites
Taking a discussion offline can give a difficult question the attention it deserves. Here, the curtain supplies a less generous explanation: the detail has become inconvenient, and the person managing the meeting would prefer fewer witnesses.
The employee and the unresolved question disappear together while everyone else remains outside. The satire asks whether moving a conversation actually helps resolve it, or merely removes the people who might remember what was said.

Reading notes
The important question is what crosses the curtain with the employee. If the evidence leaves the meeting but the decision remains with the people outside, the smaller conversation cannot resolve the larger problem. It can only produce a version of the concern that is easier to ignore. The original audience may reasonably assume that somebody else is now dealing with it, while the employee discovers that the new audience lacks the authority to do so.
There are sensible reasons to leave a group discussion: confidential information, a technical detail that only two people can answer, or a disagreement that needs more time. The difference is the route back. Who will report the outcome, when will the decision return, and will the people affected hear the actual answer? Those details distinguish a useful working session from a disappearing act.
The curtain also changes the social risk. Raising a concern publicly creates witnesses to both the warning and the response. Moving it into private can make the employee responsible for remembering, repeating and defending it alone. The cartoon makes that redistribution visible without needing a lengthy meeting transcript: one person gets a quieter room, and another gets a quieter record.
